Our mission is to develop, build and operate carbon negative heat and power plants. By working with sustainable biomass and proven technology, we do more than reduce emissions, we actively remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

Thomas Öström

Thomas Öström has over 25 years of experience in the tech and renewable energy industries, with a strong focus on building companies, leading organizations, and driving sustainable innovation. As the founder of the cleantech company Climeon AB, he successfully led its growth from inception to public listing in 2017, establishing it as a leader in renewable energy solutions.
As early investor and board member of the UK based Landmark Power Holdings, Thomas has been working in the forefront of developing power plants with Carbon Capture and CO2 usage.
In addition to his entrepreneurial achievements, Thomas has served as an advisor to Sting, recognized as the world’s best startup incubator, where he supported emerging businesses in scaling their impact. His board experience and leadership in large-scale projects demonstrate his ability to combine strategic vision with operational excellence.
Thomas’s passion for tackling climate challenges and his extensive expertise in technology and energy make him a driving force behind Nordbex’s mission to deliver impactful, carbon-negative solutions.
Gunilla Berggren

Gunilla Berggren is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, combining deep technical expertise with strong operational leadership. As COO and CSO of Nordbex, she is responsible for translating the company’s strategy into execution, overseeing day-to-day operations, organizational development, and the delivery of large-scale, carbon-negative energy projects.
With a structured, hands-on approach, Gunilla has played a key role in building companies and project organizations from the ground up, managing complex technical systems, multidisciplinary teams, and critical project interfaces. Her work ensures that sustainability objectives are fully integrated into operational decision-making and project execution.
Driven by a strong commitment to addressing climate and environmental challenges, Gunilla is a central force behind Nordbex’s BECCS strategy and long-term climate impact. Her leadership in renewable energy, carbon removal, and organizational development makes her a key contributor to delivering durable climate benefits at scale.
Joakim Winberg

Joakim Winberg is a strategic and analytical finance leader with over a decade of experience in financial controlling, governance, and capital management. As CFO of Nordbex, he is responsible for shaping the company’s financial strategy and ensuring strong alignment between operations, capital allocation, and long-term business objectives.
Joakim has extensive experience from senior finance roles in high-growth and transformation-driven organizations, including scale-ups and large international companies. His expertise spans financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, fundraising, and performance management, combined with a hands-on approach to cost control and financial discipline.
Working closely with the CEO, board, investors, and external stakeholders, Joakim ensures robust financial structures, transparency, and credibility as Nordbex scales capital-intensive, carbon-negative infrastructure projects. His ability to translate complex financial data into clear decision support is a key asset in building a resilient and scalable business.

Carl’s expertise spans business development, strategic sales, and operational management, with a proven track record of delivering growth and building strong partnerships. He also has experience from various board assignments, contributing to the advancement of complex energy projects.
With a deep commitment to sustainability and innovation, Carl plays a pivotal role at Nordbex, leveraging his commercial acumen to position the company as a leader in the carbon removal market.
Helen Öström

Helen Öström is an experienced business leader with deep expertise in corporate development, organizational scaling, and the design and implementation of management systems in industrial and technology-driven companies. With a background in both engineering and business management, she brings a structured and analytical approach to building resilient organizations prepared for long-term growth.
Before joining Nordbex, Helen held senior roles at companies such as Mycronic and Megger, where she worked extensively with international expansion, organizational development, and the establishment of robust management systems. She has significant experience in developing and implementing ISO-certified frameworks, including quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems, supporting both regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
At Nordbex, Helen focuses on corporate development and organizational maturity, strengthening internal processes, governance structures, and certification readiness. Her work ensures that Nordbex is well positioned to scale carbon removal infrastructure in a controlled, compliant, and bankable manner.
Håkan Karlsson

As the lead process engineer for Landmark’s first CCUS project, Håkan played a central role in designing, engineering, and successfully delivering the now fully operational facility.
With deep technical expertise and a hands-on approach, Håkan is renowned for his ability to develop innovative solutions while maintaining a sharp focus on operational efficiency. His career spans leadership roles in complex projects, where he has consistently ensured seamless integration of advanced technologies.

Niklas Lindvall

Niklas Lindvall is a dynamic and results-driven mechanical engineer with a proven ability to lead complex energy projects and deliver exceptional results. As Project Manager for the Nybro waste-to-energy plant, he oversaw the 480 million SEK project from feasibility to completion, managing over 400 supplier contracts. Delivered on time and within budget, the facility stands as a regional benchmark for innovation and efficiency.
In his roles as Production Manager and Business Area Manager at Nybro Energi, Niklas led operations, distribution, and sales with a sharp focus on profitability and performance. Managing a 150 million SEK budget and a skilled team of 21, he consistently optimized operations and drove strategic growth.
Renowned for his hands-on leadership, strong business acumen, and ability to inspire collaboration, Niklas combines technical expertise with a strategic vision. His experience in delivering large-scale energy solutions makes him a key driver in bringing Nordbex’s first BECCS facility to life.
Gustav Tillback
Project Manager

Gustav Tillback is an experienced project manager with more than 25 years of hands-on expertise in energy and process industries, with a strong focus on biomass-based power and heat production. At Nordbex Nybro, he is responsible for project management, investigations, and engineering related to the development and construction of the BECCS-enabled combined heat and power plant.
Gustav has held leading operational and project roles across the entire lifecycle of large-scale energy facilities, including design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and operation. His background includes senior positions at Nybro Energi, Valmet, and Calambio Engineering, as well as extensive experience from commissioning and optimization of fluidized bed, grate-fired, and recovery boilers, turbines, and auxiliary systems.
With deep technical competence and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach, Gustav plays a key role in translating Nordbex’s technical ambitions into a robust and operable facility. His local presence, long-standing industry experience, and strong understanding of plant operations contribute significantly to the successful delivery of Nordbex Nybro.
Andreas Jensen
Expert Infrastructure & Logistics
Get to know Andreas
Andreas is a civil engineer from Lund University of Technology and the founder of Ulmus Capital. He has extensive experience in infrastructure investments, asset management, and strategic development. Previously, he worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager at the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4), focusing on investments in real assets such as infrastructure, real estate, forestry, and agriculture. During his time at AP4, he was also a member of the investment committee for Polhem Infra and served on the board of Rikshem AB.
Andreas has also held leadership roles as Director of Business Development at MTR Nordic and Senior Investment Manager at Skandia, where he worked with investment strategy and business development. Earlier in his career, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and served as a political advisor at the Swedish Ministry of the Environment, further strengthening his expertise in sustainability and regulatory frameworks.
In Concept demonstration BECCS, Andreas will mainly contribute with his expertise in infrastructure development (transport, logistics, warehousing, power systems, heat connection) and financial structuring, ensuring that the plant has a solid foundation for long-term success.

Michael has managed several development companies in the renewable sector and has considerable technical and commercial knowledge of the industry. He has been a power station engineer for all his career. He trained with the CEGB and Powergen and has around 35 years’ experience in developing power plants, their construction and operation; over 3,000MW of gas fired power plants across Europe.
Michael is currently the Managing Director of Landmark Power Holdings, developing Power plants with carbon capture. He has managed several development companies in the renewable sector and has considerable technical and commercial knowledge of the industry. Michael has been a power station engineer for all his career. He trained with the CEGB and Powergen, and has around 35 years experience in developing power plants, their construction and operation; over 3,000MW of gas fired power plants across Europe.

Erik von Ehrenheim

Erik von Ehrenheim has extensive experience from the forest industry and investment banking, with a strong focus on project finance, capital structuring, and industrial investments. He has worked with packaging and infrastructure projects and brings deep insight into financing models for capital-intensive assets.
Erik also serves as an advisory board member of the UB Forestry Green Growth Fund, contributing strategic expertise at the intersection of forestry, sustainability, and long-term investment. At Nordbex, he supports project finance and investment-related advisory discussions.
