Carbon negative power

Nordbex develops, builds and operates modular carbon negative power plants that seamlessly integrate into urban areas, providing clean base load energy while removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Sustainability

Carbon removal facility

Carbon capture

Capture CO₂ where it’s produced and turn unavoidable emissions into measurable climate impact. Nordbex integrates carbon capture into dispatchable heat and power, enabling permanent storage or use in sustainable products such as renewable aviation fuel.

Sawdust and biomass

Biomass

Sustainably sourced biomass can deliver reliable energy while supporting a lower carbon footprint. Nordbex builds dispatchable heat and power around local biomass supply, designed for high efficiency and long-term climate performance.

CDR

Carbon Dioxide Removal means going beyond reductions and taking CO2 out of the atmosphere. With verified capture and permanent storage, Nordbex helps create durable removals that move the needle toward net zero.

Impact on society

Welfare. Energy security. Climate impact.

Three words that sum up why more municipalities see Nordbex as one of the strongest tools for local transition.

Sweden needs stable energy, faster emissions reductions, and municipalities that can keep delivering strong welfare. That requires new solutions. Nordbex finances, develops, and builds new CHP plants optimized for maximum CO2 capture through BioCCUS.

Municipalities get future proof heat and electricity without tying up taxpayer capital. At the same time, local jobs are created, and the plants can deliver negative emissions, a combination that makes a difference for both people & climate.

Three direct effects for municipalities and regions are:

  • Welfare – External project financing enables municipalities to redirect more capital toward welfare investments (i.e. schools, healthcare, and infrastructure)
  • Energy Security – Stable, future-proof, and distributed energy, strengthening resilience while enabling regional cooperation.
  • Climate Impact – Always integrated and optimised carbon capture, accelerating Sweden’s path toward net-zero emissions.

Increased National Resilience

“Reliance on fossil fuels makes Europe vulnerable to external pressures and costly imports, while a shift to renewables would enhance security, lower costs and improve resilience.” – EUISS 2025

Scalable electrification

“Svenskt Näringsliv estimates that electricity demand will increase by at least 60% by 2045 compared to today’s level.” – Svenskt näringsliv 2025

Escalating climate change

“Climate change is a threat to human well-being and planetary health. The choices and actions
implemented in this decade will have impacts now
and for thousands of years.” – IPCC 2025

BECCS

Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage or usage - bioCCU

We turn sustainably sourced biomass into dependable heat and electricity for local communities, while capturing the CO2 at the source. The result is energy that supports the grid when it matters and carbon removals that can be measured, verified, and stored for the long term. We use local biomass residues, convert them to dispatchable power and district heating, then separate the biogenic CO2 and prepare it for permanent storage or usage in sustainable fuels.
