Nordbex 1 in Nybro is built to strengthen local energy supply. By combining dispatchable heat and power with integrated CO₂ capture, the project is designed to deliver long-term value for the community and credible carbon outcomes.
Delivery starts before construction
Real climate infrastructure is shaped by the details: permits, grid and heat integration, fuel logistics, and CO₂ handling. Nybro is developed with those interfaces in mind, so the project can progress from planning to execution without losing pace.
If you work close to the system, in energy planning, infrastructure, fuels, or carbon value chains, this is the kind of project worth following.
Our first full-scale blueprint
Nybro is where Nordbex turns sustainable biomass into dispatchable heat and electricity, with CO₂ capture designed in from day one. The project is built for predictable operation and a clear CO₂ pathway, so the captured stream can be prepared for long-term storage or for downstream use.
This is the starting point for a repeatable model built for local energy value, credible carbon outcomes, and scalable delivery across the Nordics.
Built for municipal energy systems
Nordbex focuses on municipalities where district heating assets are approaching replacement. Instead of upgrading piece by piece, we develop new, repeatable projects designed around local heat demand, grid connection, biomass supply, logistics, and permitting conditions.
Our site selection follows a structured screening process, supported by mapping of the Nordic district-heating landscape together with a third-party energy advisor. The goal is simple: deliver price-efficient heat, dependable baseload electricity, and a project structure that is easier for municipalities to adopt.
We build for the climate
Nordbex is led by a team of passionate entrepreneurs with a focus on the climate, headed by Thomas Öström. Together, they have decades of experience in the energy sector, building large-scale projects, and developing successful companies that contribute to a sustainable future
