Annie Lööf and Andreas Jensen join the Nordbex board
Nordbex AB announces that Annie Lööf and Andreas Jensen are proposed for election to the company’s board at the Annual General Meeting on 26 June. Lööf joins as a board member, while Jensen is proposed as the new Chairman of the Board. The appointments bring complementary expertise in green industrial policy, energy systems and infrastructure finance — at a point where carbon capture is moving from ambition to operational reality.
Two appointments with distinct roles
Nordbex develops combined heat and power plants where sustainable biomass is paired with fully integrated CO₂ capture. The result is local energy production that simultaneously removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere — and can contribute to the production of sustainable fuels.
The company’s first plant, Nordbex 1 in Nybro, is in active development. As interest in energy transition, industrial resilience and carbon dioxide removal grows rapidly across Sweden and Europe, Nordbex is reinforcing its board with two people who bring deep and complementary experience.
“Nordbex is moving from project development into full-scale industrial establishment. Andreas Jensen has a strong background in capital structuring and long-term infrastructure finance, and Annie Lööf brings strategic insight into energy systems, the bioeconomy and the policy landscape that surrounds them. It is a strong combination for us at this stage,” says Thomas Öström, CEO of Nordbex.
Annie Lööf — Board member
Annie Lööf is a lawyer and strategic advisor with a particular focus on green transition and sustainable business. She led the Centre Party from 2011 to 2023 and served as Sweden’s Minister for Enterprise and Innovation from 2011 to 2014. Throughout her political career she was one of the most prominent voices on the bioeconomy, energy supply and negative emissions.
“The opportunity to help build a new green industry in Sweden — at a time when we need to tackle climate change while securing a robust energy supply — feels both urgent and tangible. Combining biomass with carbon capture is not just about reducing emissions. It is about actively removing them and creating new green products,” says Annie Lööf.
Andreas Jensen — Proposed Chairman of the Board
Andreas Jensen is a civil engineer with extensive experience in investments, infrastructure and project finance. He has previously worked at Skandia and the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4), focusing on real assets including infrastructure, real estate, forestry and agriculture. He has served on the investment committee of Polhem Infra and on the board of Rikshem AB.
As proposed Chairman, he brings experience of long-term capital and the financing structures required to scale capital-intensive energy infrastructure.
